Sourdough Bread Sandwich

Hey everyone, I hope you are having a great day. Today, I am off from work and I finally have time to make my own lunch. Lately, I’ve been a regular at the local Japanese restaurant. Actually, that may be an understatement because when I call they answer by saying “Hi Travis, what would you like today?” So, as you can see I need to give calling their number a break. It’s bad when a restaurant knows you that well or doesn’t need to ask for your address for delivery. Anyway after breakfast this morning I began to plan for my lunch. I have to plan and entice the hungry monkeys in my tummy, or else I would be dialing “Tomo” again.

I decided to make a sandwich with: asparagus, mushrooms, and Applewood Smoked Sausage.

It was very easy and delicious. I started with 3 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan, then I added chopped asparagus and mushrooms. I sautéed the veggies with 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and a dash of sea salt. After 2 mins I added the sausage. While the sausage cooked I toasted 2 slices of sourdough bread. Once the mushrooms were browned, and asparagus was tender, I spooned the mixture over each slice of bread.

In the future I will try adding some parmesean cheese, or smoked gouda. I think sweet corn would taste great too. Let me know what you think.

  1. Looks delicious, a definite for cheese (my opinion), lately I have been on a big cheese craze. Have to have cheese on everything.
Side note: it is not a bad thing the restaurant knows you by name
    1) they care enough to learn the regular customers by name
    2) saves time when ordering, do not have to give name, address, number, etc
